Thank you again Wintec for the generous donation of fifty 16GB CF cards to the first fifty at NCPP night with “the becker” on July 13th,
Testing of the Wintec 16 GB CF card. I think that the 16GB card is an excellent CF card and wanted to bench test it before putting it to a real world job. Knowing the performance and limitations of all you equipment is part of being a Professional Photographer.
I did my own test on read/write speed for the 16GB Professional CF card.
Canon 7d Full size RAW 18mp
Wintec 21 shots (511mb data) took 1:23.8 (one minute 23.8 seconds)
Lexar 16GB 300x CF card 41 shots and took 31.2 seconds.
Canon 5d Mk2 Full size RAW 24mp
Wintec 1 shot 0.47 sec
Lexar 0.12 sec
Mind you:
Lexar Pro Series is a UDMA 300x rated at 45MB/Sec Read/Write and cost me $150 (now $100 or less)Wintec filemate S Pro 16 GB card is rated at 60mb read/ 25 MB write. The Wintec performed very well with video in both the Canon 5d Mk2 and the 7d.
Conclusion: The Wintec filemate S Pro 16 GB card performs very well for landscape, studio, video and general photography. If you are hamming 10-16 frames per second in your sports photography you might want to consider a faster card as the write time is a bit long.
Disclaimer: This was a hand held push the stopwatch redneck test so it is only my evaluation and your mileage may vary.

Thanks for the info; Very informative
Really appreciated their gift to us and their candor on Tuesday. He was very clear when he talked with me that it was a mid/low level card for the read and write thing. Thank you, Wayne for doing the test. It’s good for us non-tech types to have something that really explains the issue.
The reliability of the card sounds good and it will have a use, though perhaps not for those action jobs. I was under the impression they are also making a faster card. Loved having them there. Very nice evening.
Yes Wayne, thanks for the info. What matters most to me is the reliability, so I will start using it and if all goes well, will build a trust in it.
Thanks to Wintec, it was a very nice gesture.
