President’s Message for February 2014
Ah, February, the month of love. NCPP sure shared the love. First, with the awesome Night with the Masters, orchestrated by Laura Cottril, where old friends and new got together to share their inspiration for our wonderful art. Scott’s Seafood Restaurant Garden was the perfect setting for over 50 members and masters to hear Ted Talk speaker, Derick Tsai, talk about the reinvention that every artist needs.
Continuing in the same theme we had our first Image Critique Night on the 25th. For those of you who missed it, Michael McNamara, M.Photog. CPP, Michael van Auken, and Laura Cottril, CPP, reviewed, critiqued, and generally schooled us. Lots of discussion on posing, technical aspects, and presentation that would make each image stronger. Two hours of free expert advice on our own images presented with love.
March brings March Madness* and just screams competition. So, bring it on!! Thursday, 13 March, sees us back on our regular meeting night at our regular venue, the Concord Hilton. It is our first All Evening Image Competition. You can enter up to 4 images to be judged by our panel of judges including Paul Tsang, M.Photog. and PPA photographer of the Year, and Mary Small, M. Photog.
If you are getting ready for Professional Photographers of California Image Competition in April, selecting images for Professional Photographers of America International Print Competition in June or just looking to improve your photography this is the perfect opportunity to get the feedback to make your images soar. And, it is a competition, so there will be winners in each category and one overall winner for the night. Awards and bragging rights included.
